With innovation and forward-thinking at the core of everything it does, Leonide Interiors has recently undertaken a complete refurbishment of its expansive and stunning showroom.
Often referred to as a Tardis, the vast bathroom, kitchen, and tile showroom is based on Spa Lane, immediately off the main A617 Chesterfield to Bolsover Road. With over fifty quality displays showing the latest up-to-date products, there’s a seemingly endless selection of bathrooms to look at. Ambiance Bain, Pelipal, Carissa, Aqualisa, Geberit, Vogue, and Sanijura are all well represented with tantalising ranges of their most remarkable models.
In addition to outstanding bathroom designs, the showroom, which spans over 3100 sq. ft, also boasts an impressive selection of superb high-end kitchens from Remp and other exclusive German suppliers.
Owned and managed by Paul Pearson, Leonide Interiors, which opened its doors eight or so years ago, has made an indelible mark on the local retail landscape through its imaginative, inspired, and original bathroom and kitchen designs.
“We pride ourselves on offering the very highest standards of customer service,” says Paul. “Because of this many of our loyal customers, who originally had a new and beautiful bathroom fitted, have come back to us time and time again to renovate, refurbish and overhaul other rooms in their homes. Quite often, what started as a bathroom project has developed into a complete home rebuild, involving new kitchens, bedrooms, office spaces, cloakrooms, utility rooms, hallways, and, for that matter, any room imaginable!”
“Everything we do here is based around giving our customers the best products available along with the best possible service and advice,” continued Paul.
Paul is ably supported by experienced bathroom and kitchen designer, Jon Berry, who is an integral part of the sales and design team. Jon brings with him a wealth of knowledge enabling him to create the most intricate, creative, and ingenious designs.
Whether it’s the ultimate contemporary, sleek and streamlined look or the traditional carpentry of a bespoke craftsman’s rustic masterpiece, Jon has the tools and inspiration to produce a bespoke design custom-made to each customer’s individual requirements.
Completing the sales team is trainee, Darrell Grafton, who has quickly picked up the skills of the trade and the knowledge to go with it.
They say that a business is only as good as its production manager, and this is where the highly experienced Ian Mawson comes in. As coordinator of operations Ian ensures that every project is equipped with the necessary products, tools, and know-how to function efficiently.
Coordinating and administering the business is the accounts manager, Julie Hodgson, who does just about everything from liaising with customers to day-to-day accounting, along with credit control and keeping everyone else organised!
From a standing start in 2014, Leonide Interiors has expanded not only exponentially, but also effectively. There are currently eleven projects on the go serviced by more than thirty fitters. Each of these fitters has been trained to the highest and most exacting ‘Leonide’ standards and goes ‘over and beyond’ to ensure that every project is a piece of enduring craftsmanship.
The glass door, which opens into the Leonide showroom, is the portal to a world of creative vision, originality, and flair. The contemporary bathroom and kitchen displays are the essence of minimalist style, offering clean lines, smooth surfaces and an overall sense of space and light. From the ultramodern to the chic and subtle, the one thing all the contemporary collections have in common is their ability to maximise space and flow in a room.
Traditional designs have also remained consistently popular for good reason, and Leonide has on display a beautiful collection. Comforting and warm, nothing feels like home quite like a traditional kitchen. Some of the bathroom and kitchen displays celebrate a harmonious fusion of tradition, classic and contemporary ideas, combining seamlessly the best attributes of each. Some models masquerade their modern technology behind traditional hand-painted cabinetry. The expert blend of classic kitchen details, the modern twist of contemporary style and functionality and the pure aesthetics of traditional features can combine harmoniously to create a design that is simply stunning.
The range of materials for the walls and panels is quite staggering. Marble, travertine, splash panels made from waterproof foam resin, natural slate, onyx, acrylic composite, and glass are prevalent throughout. The choice goes on and on. There’s even a copper and nickel bath!
Paul and his team are keen to keep abreast of all the latest trends in the industry and strive to remain at the cutting edge of technology and styles. “Greys are still very much in vogue,” said Jon. “However, whilst blue has been the flavour of the month, it looks like green is taking over, with purple to take over from green in about twelve months’ time. Brass has also made a comeback! We have to be aware of these movements and keep one step ahead!”
In the kitchen and the bathroom, using interesting tiles from all around the world can bring a unique signature to any home. That’s why Leonide goes to great lengths to source attention-grabbing tiles from all the corners of the earth. Using unique colours and textures of tile, can make bathrooms look expensive and luxurious and are an important accessory for the style of any room.
Making a statement in the bathroom can be achieved simply by adding an extraordinary floor tile. A graphic pattern or a bold colour is an elegant addition to an otherwise neutral bathroom. Bathrooms can be personalised by creating an interesting pattern on the floor or the walls, or even the worktops and furniture in the room.
Whilst bathrooms have remained the core business for Leonide, with kitchens a close second, there is an ever-increasing demand for full house projects. Indeed, three such projects have been scheduled to start from March next year. “What quite often happens is that we complete a bathroom project, for instance, and then we get asked to do an overhaul of the kitchen,” said Jon. “Then, it all progresses from there!”
“Leonide has not only been recognised and appreciated by its ever-growing band of loyal customers locally, but it has also received recognition and acclaim from experts in the industry.”
Leonide has not only been recognised and appreciated by its ever-growing band of loyal customers locally, but it has also received recognition and acclaim from experts in the industry. The shortlist has recently been revealed for the kbbreview Retail & Design Awards 2023 with Leonide nominated for three categories: ‘Designer of the Year’, ‘Showroom of the Year’ and ‘Retailer of the Year’. Now the next stage of judging kicks in – all the design finalists, including Leonide, will be invited to present their projects to the judging panels and will be visited in person by the judges so they can see the businesses for themselves up close. Exciting times indeed!
